Ever wonder how police officers perform their different duties? What it's like to be the officer on a traffic stop? What is involved with processing a murder scene? We will answer these questions and more as local citizens get a chance to experience what it's like to be a police officer at the Conyers Police Department Citizen Police Academy.
Bringing local citizens and the police together for the good of the community is the driving spirit of the Conyers Police Department Citizen Police Academy. Citizens and representatives from the City of Conyers Police Department come together for a 9-week series of highly interactive classes. In each two-hour session, Academy students gain valuable life experience and participate in a number of hands-on activities, including processing a crime scene, forensics, patrol, K-9 and others.
The Conyers Police Department Citizen Police Academy is open to adults ages 18 and above. A special Senior Citizens Police Academy is also hosted by the City of Conyers Police Department at the Olivia Haydel Senior Center.
