The City of Conyers 9-1-1 Center offers quick, efficient response to your emergency and non-emergency calls requiring police or medical attention. Using the latest high-tech equipment, a team of professional dispatch operators is there, ready to help you in your time of need.
Calling 9-1-1
When you call 9-1-1 in the City of Conyers, the Operator will answer: "Conyers 9-1-1, where is the emergency?" It is very important to know the following information:
- The location of the emergency
- The type of emergency
- Your name and address
- The closest cross street
- Stay on the phone until the operator tells you to hang up. The operator can send you help while still on the phone with you.
Remember: Stay calm. Speak clearly. Help is on the way.
If you are calling 9-1-1 from a house or business, the operator may already know your location from information received at the 9-1-1 Center. However, if you call 9-1-1 from a cell phone, the operator will not know your location. It is important that you know where you are. Look for landmarks such as street signs, mile markers and businesses nearby.
A new system is in development by cell phone companies that will enable 9-1-1 operators to pinpoint a cell phone location using latitude and longitude. This system is still in the works and should be available in the near future.
