Partnership... Youth... Collaboration... Community... are the cornerstones of the City of Conyers Community Policing program. Working in partnership with local churches, neighborhoods and organizations, the Conyers community policing program was designed to assist in educational and crime prevention related issues. We offer information and guidance with the Neighborhood Watch for all of our communities. Officers work with the local schools to provide educational seminars on drug use, violence and safety concerns.
Fun educational activities keep youth engaged, off the street and provide opportunity for positive interaction with local law enforcement. The Community Policing Unit will work with those neighborhoods wanting to sponsor special events for their communities such as block parties, summer activities and specialized children’s events.
In furthering its community policing objectives, the Conyers Police Department has embarked on a unique pilot program that puts officers in City neighborhoods where they work in cooperation with residents to help combat crime and special problems. Each police shift has an officer assigned to the neighborhoods of Pinedale, Forest Villas, Hunting Creek, Briar Creek, Lakeview and Green Valley. These officers have the responsibility of performing special assignments in each area which include Junk vehicle enforcement, abandoned house targeting and resolution, graffiti location and removal, concentrated foot patrol, “street sweeps”, community meeting attendance, community enforcement needs and being a special citizen point of contact for the police.
