Explorer Post

The call to join the world of law enforcement often begins at an early age. Through the Explorers post, the City of Conyers offers youth the opportunity to explore many aspects of community policing.

The purpose of the program is to provide experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible, caring adults. Explorers gain valuable life experiences through activities that encourage citizenship and community involvement.

Explorers receive training in a number of law enforcement areas, including traffic stops, self defense, handcuffing techniques, SWAT tactics and Georgia law.  The Explorers also attend several competitions and an Explorer Police Academy in Alpena, MI.  The Explorers Post is open to youth ages 14-20.  Explorers meet every Monday night at 6:30 p.m. in the Conyers Police Department Courtroom (Council Chambers).  Meetings are highly interactive and last until 9:00 p.m.

To sign up or learn more about Explorers, contact our Helpdesk or call (770) 929-4212.
