Court Services Open Saturdays Beginning July 11
The City of Conyers Department of Court Services will be open six days a week beginning Saturday, July 11, when the department begins operating on Saturdays.
The Department of Court Services is responsible for all municipal court, probation and community service functions of the City of Conyers. The department will be open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Citizens may continue to pay traffic fines and obtain copies of police accident and incident reports at their convenience on-line at www.conyersga.com.
“In an effort to be more accessible to those that need to visit us to pay fines and take care of court business, we have decided to open on Saturdays for a three-month trial basis beginning July 11,” said Director of Court Services Vicki Judd. “For our customers working during the week, this is an effort to better accommodate their schedules.”
Judd added that city staff will not be paid an extra day for working Saturday hours; they will take a day off during the regular work week to compensate for their Saturday hours.
The Department of Court Services was created in March 2003 for the purpose of consolidating all court related services and initiating an in-house probation and community service program.

Conyers Joins Geocaching Craze
Treasure seekers – or those just in it for the hunt – will be delighted to discover Conyers has joined the world of geocaching.
“We’ve heard the success other communities have experienced with this literally global hobby for all ages and thought Conyers could benefit by participating,” said Harriet Gattis of the Conyers Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This outdoor adventure takes you out of your neighborhood to explore the rest of our community.”
According to www.geocaching.com, the authority on the hobby, geocaching is a “worldwide game of hunting and seeking treasure.” The website states that a geocacher can “place a geocache anywhere in the world, pinpoint its location utilizing GPS technology and then share the geocache’s existence and location online.”
Those wishing to participate in the hunt only need a GPS handheld device or GPS-enabled cell phone to track the coordinates and locations of the geocaches which can be found on www.geocaching.com. After the geocache has been discovered, log onto the geocaching website to log the discovery of the cache. The Conyers caches can also be found on the city's website at www.conyersga.com/visiting/GeocachinginConyers.aspx.
Two containers or “caches” have been hidden in Olde Town Conyers and four are waiting to be discovered at the Georgia International Horse Park.
“This is another way to introduce Conyers to not only local residents who may not be familiar with these locations but visitors passing through looking for something fun, relatively inexpensive and educational about the community,” said Gattis.
