Pave the Path 10K to Benefit Olde Town Trail
Local cyclists, business people and members of the Olde Town Conyers Trail Committee have teamed up and organized the Pave the Path 10K, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, to raise funds for the PATH Foundation's Olde Town Conyers Trail.
Conte's Bicycles and Fitness Equipment along with members of the Conyers-Covington Cycling Club (C4) and members of the Olde Town Conyers Trail Committee (a Main Street Program committee) organized the event that will benefit the development of the Olde Town Conyers Trail, a PATH Foundation initiative, that extends the Rockdale South River Trail's current end, located at Alexander Lake, through the Monastery of the Holy Spirit to Olde Town Conyers.
The PATH Foundation was formed in August 1991 and is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of a "system interlinking greenway trails through metro Atlanta for commuting and recreating." The foundation has developed over 100 miles of trails in northern Georgia consisting of several networks, including the Silver Comet and Arabia Mountain Trails.
"The goal of the event is to raise awareness of what this path means to our community in terms of greenspace and quality of life, as well as to generate commerce in Rockdale County," said Brent Taylor, co-owner of Conte's Bicycles and Fitness Equipment.
The 6.2 mile walk/run begins at the Panola Mountain Trail Head of the South River Trail in Conyers on Saturday, May 10 at 8 a.m. Pre-registration cost is $20 before May 3 and $25 after May 3 and on race day. All proceeds benefit the Olde Town Conyers Trail.
