Mayor Vince Evans, members of the Conyers City Council and city staff thanked state legislators for their assistance in helping pass key legislative acts benefitting Conyers and Rockdale County during the 2025 session.
Senator Tonya Anderson (District 43), Representative Rhonda Taylor (District 92), Representative Doreen Carter (District 93) and Representative Angela Moore (District 91) attended a reception on July 28 hosted by the city of Conyers. During the most recent legislative session, a community improvement district (CID) was established by law whereby Conyers businesses within a defined area who choose to participate in the CID can agree to pay a self-imposed additional tax to fund specific services or improvements of their choosing within the district. City staff held several informational sessions with businesses and property owners in the geographical area of the CID that includes part of West Avenue, the Highway 138 corridor, and Salem Gate Market throughout the past year regarding this opportunity for business improvements.
In addition, legislators supported the annexation of 27 properties into the city limits for the purpose of better delineating the unclear lines between the incorporated and unincorporated areas of the city. The properties annexed into the city limits will result in improved response and less confusion for public safety needs, code enforcement, and beautification efforts.
“These women are champions and workhorses for the citizens of Conyers and Rockdale County,” said Mayor Vince Evans. “We appreciate their willingness to work with us and for us for beneficial legislation that will result in a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community.”
