Alcohol Beverage Licensing

Categories of Alcoholic Beverage Licensing are:

1. Retail beer and wine
2. Retail beer, wine and distilled spirits
3. Consumption on Premise beer and wine
4. Consumption on Premise beer, wine and distilled spirits

If your business intends to sell beer, wine and/or liquor for off- premise consumption, you must apply for a Retail Alcoholic Beverage License.

If your business is a restaurant or you desire to operate a drinking place, then a Consumption on Premises license is required.  

Apply for Alcohol License or visit us at the Planning and Inspections Department at 901 O'Kelly Street in Conyers to pick up a packet. After completing the appropriate application please contact the Planning and Inspection Services Department to schedule a pre-submittal meeting with the City Marshal. Please plan on two hours for this meeting as the Alcoholic Beverage Ordinance will be provided to you and the expectations explained.

You must have both the City of Conyers Alcoholic Beverage License and the State of Georgia Alcoholic Beverage License in order to purchase alcoholic beverages from a state approved distributor. Alcohol Handler Permit (Servers/Bartenders)

If you're interested in pursuing a position serving alcohol, there are requirements you must meet:

• Must be 18 years old
• Employment must be with a business located in the City of Conyers
• Complete a RASS Class (Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service) within 90 days of obtaining the permit
• Submit to a criminal history background check
• Provide a valid Driver's License, State ID or Immigration Card
• Complete an application
• Pay a $60 processing fee

Likewise, if you are interested in applying for an alcohol manager permit, there are requirements that include:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Fingerprinting required for all new or expired manager applicants
• RASS Class (Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service) must be completed within 90 days or be current
• Complete an application
• Pay a $60 processing fee

Alcohol handler permits must be obtained in-person at City Hall, 901 O'Kelly Street, Conyers, GA 30012 in the Planning and Inspections Department.
